“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” — Mark Twain
The looping activity was very beneficial to the creation of my Literacy Narrative story. Before I completed the activity, I knew the story I wanted to write, but I didn't know how to tell the story in a captivating way to intrigue the reader. This activity opened my mind to new ideas and concepts, hiding within the story. I thought about the story in a new way and recollected my feelings and thoughts when I experienced the event. These new realizations will help me interestingly tell the story to captivate the reader.
While utilizing the looping activity, I discovered the underlying meaning the event had to me. I had always remembered this event but couldn't pinpoint why it was meaningful to me. As I dug deeper into my mind, I realized the significance of the event. Not only was it the first time I wrote an original story, but it was also when I discovered a new outlet for me to express myself. I had forgotten the importance of the event until I completed the looping activity. It was a pivotal moment in my writing journey, and I am eager to begin writing about the event. Now that I have the main point of the story, I can approach the writing process with less stress.
I found the looping activity to be very helpful. Using the timed freewriting technique, I was able to brainstorm ideas without overthinking the process. I wasn't concerned about flow or grammar, and my ideas presented themselves much quicker. If I got off-topic, I didn't stress; I directed my thoughts back to the topic at hand. Freewriting allows you to elaborate and develop your ideas. Sometimes you discover new feelings and thoughts that can help you explore and expand on your topic. I believe the process is a great way to augment ideas for a story so you can elaborate on the subject. This is a straightforward and expeditious process that results in beneficial results to improve your writing process.
There are very few unhelpful results of the looping activity. I did encounter a few issues with step three. I would elaborate on several different subjects during the timed free write then I struggled to find the main point of each work. I do not anticipate that to be common as every story I write will be different, and I will approach each work with different ideas or knowledge. The issues I encountered were minor and can easily be resolved with practice and experience.
This activity has helped me progress my Literacy Narrative project. Now that I have expanded the story's ideas, I will have an easier time approaching this project. This assignment has helped me overcome my writer's block and find the main idea for my story. Now that I have a tool to conquer one of the most irritating issues of the writing process, I intend to use it in the future.
